FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
The twelve questions everyone asks, answered plainly.
Answers
- What does it mean to own a letter?
- You become the current owner of that letter's position on Own a Letter. You receive the public Current Face presentation, a permanent chapter in its history, an Ownership Certificate, and a secure manage link. Ownership applies to the platform position only. It grants no trademark, copyright, or other intellectual property rights.
- How is the price determined?
- Each letter displays one Current Ownership Price: the highest paid position on it. Take the crown by paying strictly more than that price. Any payment from the platform position minimum up is also valid - it ranks you on the letter's ownership ladder.
- What does the previous owner receive?
- Nothing from your payment. The platform receives all payments. The previous owner keeps permanent history: their chapter remains frozen forever in the letter's Book.
- What is the ownership ladder?
- Every payment on a letter creates one ranked position. The highest paid position holds the Current Face; equal amounts rank by earlier payment. Positions are permanent and never expire.
- How do I take a letter back?
- Open your manage link and choose Take the Crown Back. You pay the full current highest amount again, a new chapter begins, and older chapters never change.
- Can I join a letter's history without taking the crown?
- Yes. Any payment from the platform minimum up creates a permanent ranked position on that letter's ladder, recorded beside every crown. It changes the price only if it is the highest.
- Do I need an account?
- No. There are no customer accounts. After a purchase you receive a secure manage link that controls everything: your profile, receipts, and alerts.
- What is publicly visible?
- Your owner profile exactly as you submitted it: name, title, industries, About, website, social profiles, and any public contact fields you explicitly consented to. Payment data is never displayed. Phone and address are never required.
- Can I edit my profile later?
- Yes. Open your manage link and edit your profile at any time. Changes update your public presentation. Financial history is never editable.
- What happens when someone takes my letter?
- Your chapter freezes permanently with your reign dates and amount paid. If you opted in, you receive one factual notification telling you who holds the letter now.
- What if two people pay the same amount?
- The earlier payment holds the higher rank. Ties never overturn a crown: only a strictly higher payment takes it.
- What happens to my historical page?
- It stays online forever at its permanent address. Ranks may change as new owners arrive; your chapter's story and URL never change. This chapter is permanently archived.
